The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
