The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Yes indeed - they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a written book, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
