Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it envelops; 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and he belied the finest 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
