And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin. 31 And come not near unto adultery. Lo! it is an abomination and an evil way. 32 And do not kill any one whom Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, We have indeed given to his heir authority, so let him not exceed the just limits in slaying; surely he is aided. 33 Do not go near the orphans' property, except with the best of intentions, until they reach maturity. Keep your promises; you will be called to account for every promise which you have made! 34 And fill up the measure when you measure, and weigh with the straight balance; that is better and fairer in the issue. 35 Do not follow what you do not know; the ears, eyes, and hearts will all be held responsible for their deeds. 36 Do not walk proudly on the earth. You cannot cleave the earth, nor can you rival the mountains in height. 37 All these are evil and odious to your Lord. 38 (Muhammad), these are words of wisdom which your Lord has revealed to you. Do not consider anything equal to God lest you be thrown into hell, despised, and driven away from God's mercy. 39 Hath your Lord then distinguished you (O men of Makka) by giving you sons, and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels? Lo! verily ye speak an awful word! 40
