The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 160 Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" 166 They said, “O Lut, if you do not desist, you will be expelled.” 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We delivered him and his family,- all 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
