The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
