The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
