And assuredly We delivered the Children of Isra'il from an ignominous torment 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 Most surely these do say: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
