And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient! 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
