The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
