Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
