The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
