The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
