The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
