The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
