He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
