The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
