The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
