The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
