They will question thee concerning the Spirit. Say: 'The Spirit is of the bidding of my Lord. You have been given of knowledge nothing except a little.' 85 Had We willed, We could take away what We have revealed to you, then you would find none to help you in recovering it from Us. 86 except by the mercy of your Lord. He has certainly bestowed great favors on you. 87 Say: "Surely if men and jinns get together to produce the like of this (Qur'an), they will not be able to produce the like of it, however they might assist one another. 88 We have mentioned in this Quran all kinds of examples for the human being, but most human beings turn away in disbelief. 89 and so they say: "[O Muhammad,] we shall not believe thee till thou cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth, 90 Or thou have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth therein abundantly; 91 Or thou cause the heaven to fall upon us piecemeal, as thou hast pretended, or bring Allah and the angels as a warrant; 92 Or there be for thee a house of gold or thou mountest to the heaven, and we will by no means believe in thy mounting even until thou causest a book to be sent down to us, which we may read. Say thou: hallowed be my Lord! I am naught but a human being sent as an apostle. 93
