۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
