Al-Dukhaan 2 of 3
And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 These people say, 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful. 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
