The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
