Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
