And Jonah too was one of the Messengers. 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 And some people have invented a kinship between Him and all manner of invisible forces although [even] these invisible forces know well that, verily, they [who thus blaspheme against God] shall indeed be arraigned [before Him on Judgment Day: for] 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 can lure away from God any 162 except for he who shall roast in Hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 What though they would say, 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 Then when it descendeth unto them face to face, a hapless morn that shall be for those who were warned. 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe. 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
