Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 1 Which guideth unto righteousness, so we believe in it and we ascribe no partner unto our Lord. 2 He -- exalted be our Lord's majesty! has not taken to Himself either consort or a son. 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 and that [we were mistaken when] we thought that neither man nor [any of] the invisible forces would ever tell a lie about God. 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 'And we pried into the secrets of heaven; but we found it filled with stern guards and flaming fires. 8 and that “we would take up stations in the heaven to try to hear but anyone who now attempts to listen finds a shooting meteor in wait for him”; 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 But those who are iniquitous will be fuel for Hell. 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 And [know] that all worship is due to God [alone]: hence, do not invoke anyone side by side with God! 18 Do not prostrate before anyone other than Him. When the servant of God (Muhammad) preached (his message) the jinn would all crowd around him. 19

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
