He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
