The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
