The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
