The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
