And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 Stamp the ground with thy foot, yonder is water to wash in, cool, and water to drink. 42 We restored his family to him with others similar to them, as a blessing from Us and a reminder for men of wisdom. -- 43 (We said to him): 'Take a bundle of rushes and strike with it; and do not break your oath' We found him to be patient, a good worshiper and he was penitent. 44 AND CALL to mind Our servants Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, [all of them] endowed with inner strength and vision: 45 for, verily, We purified them by means of a thought most pure: the remembrance of the life to come. 46 And they are with Us, verily, of the chosen and the best! 47 And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. All are of the chosen. 48 LET [all] this be a reminder [to those who believe in God] - for, verily, the most beauteous of all goals awaits the God-conscious: 49 The gardens of perpetuity, the doors are opened for them. 50 Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine, 51 ۞ And with them will be virgins of refraining looks and of equal age. 52 This is what they had been promised for the Day of Judgment. 53 Indeed, this is Our provision; for it there is no depletion. 54 This (shall be so); and most surely there is an evil resort for the inordinate ones; 55 Hell, wherein they roast: a wretched couch. 56 All of this; so let them taste it, boiling water and pus, 57 And other similar torments. 58 [And they will say to one another: "Do you see] this crowd of people who rushed headlong [into sin] with you? No welcome to them! Verily, they [too] shall have to endure the fire!" 59 They say, 'No, it is you have no Welcome; you forwarded it for us; how evil a stablishment!' 60 [And] they will pray: "O our Sustainer! Whoever has prepared this for us, double Thou his suffering in the fire!" 61 And they will say: 'Why do we not see the men that we counted as being among the wicked in here? 62 Is it that we mistakenly made fun of them; or have they disappeared from our sight?” 63 Verily this is the very truth: the wrangling of the fellows of the Fire! 64
