The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
