Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 and had not known my account. 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter hell, 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 nor any food save the filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
