Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 We have prepared for them fetters, flaming fire, 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
