The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Will pray for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
