The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
