The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Certainly We have created man to be in distress. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Does he, then, think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 How will you comprehend what the Steep ascent is? -- 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Town (Al-Balad). Sent down in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
