54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Ha, Meem. 1 This is the revelations from the Beneficent, Merciful God. 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 Announcing happy news and warnings. And yet most of them are averse and do not listen, 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter. 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
