The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and gathered his people together 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
