The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
