The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven of the constellations! 1 and by the promised Day, 2 by the Witness and the witnessed, 3 Cursed be the makers of the pit, 4 of fire fiercely burning [for all who have attained to faith]! 5 When they were sitting at its edge. 6 fully conscious of what they are doing to the believers, 7 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Surely those who tormented the believing men and the believing women and then did not repent, theirs shall be the chastisement of Hell, and theirs shall be the chastisement of burning. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. 12 Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats. 13 and He is the Forgiving and Loving One. 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 Doer of whatsoever He intendeth. 16 Have you not heard about the stories of the armies 17 Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 In a guarded tablet. 22
