The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who belied and turned away, 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
