The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
