Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
