And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 and no sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
