Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon thee a weighty word; 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Indeed, this is a reminder, so whoever wills may take to his Lord a way. 19
