He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And hath fear, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
