The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And the day resplendent 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
