When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
