“O Noble Messengers, eat good clean things, and do good deeds; I know all that you do.” 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 The people divided themselves into many sects, each with their own book and each happy with whatever they had. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give what they give and their hearts fear for they have to return to their Lord. 60 It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. 61 And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 Until when We overtake those who lead easy lives among them with punishment, lo! they cry for succor. 64 We shall tell them, "Do not cry for help on this day; you will receive none from Us". 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or is it that they were unaware of their Messenger and were therefore repelled by him for he was a stranger to them? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 And verily thou! thou callest them unto a Path straight. 73 But indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
